Hi, my name is Joni and I can introduce you to a healthy yoga lifestyle. I am certified as an Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher (E-RYT) through the Yoga Alliance and a member of the International Association of Yoga Therapy. I am a caring and compassionate yoga teacher with 350 hours training at Devalila Yoga and an additional 200 hours of Yoga Therapy Training from Gurukul Holistic Center. The foundation of my practice is classical Hatha Yoga focusing on postures, (proper alignment), breathing, relaxation and meditation at both gentle and mixed levels. I have studied holistic therapy, anatomy/physiology, and holistic nutrition and use traditional teaching methodologies. All these work together to get the body into the best physical state possible, leaving the mind calm, clear and relaxed, to help each student achieve his or her own unique potential.
A non-intimidating, mindful and loving practice, I incorporate a beautiful assortment of music in my classes.
I have attended and led various yoga workshops focusing on health related issues such as headaches, M.S., osteoporosis, neck and shoulders and the digestive system.
I offer the following practices:
• Chair Yoga
• Therapeutic Yoga (geared towards those dealing with injuries or health conditions)
• Yoga in the workplace (before work, lunch or after work); I provided yoga instruction at the following businesses: Roche Life Science, 3M, Huntington Life Sciences and Condo Communities.
• Yoga in fitness centers
• Yoga for athletes
• Yoga for special events (weddings, birthdays, etc)
• Meditation and Relaxation techniques
• Private yoga sessions (couples, single and groups)
• Yoga for kids and teens
I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Marketing and a Masters in Elementary Education.
I teach yoga because I have received so much comfort from yoga that I want others to experience the same growth, peace and joy. One of my greatest joys is seeing my students become strong, flexible and relaxed as they make yoga their own.
I have used yoga to help address my own personal health issues, reduce stress, strengthen my immune system and stay healthy. I live with my husband, 3 children and my dog Yogi in Hillsborough, N.J. I enjoy running, photography, music, family and studying nutrition.
